Most Audubon chapters around the country are interested in sharing the exciting world of birds with younger generations. Chapter leaders realize that ultimately the conservation of birds lies with our young people, and often begins with a passion for birds and nature. Alachua Audubon is pleased to announce that we have joined other Florida Audubon chapters by starting a Florida Young Birders Club (FYBC) for youths aged 9-17. This is an exciting new venture that will serve young birders locally and help connect them to a state-wide network of other young birders.
For more information on the statewide network, visit their website here. The official registration for the state-wide YBC is through the Florida Ornithological Society (FOS) website, and there are currently about 60 state-wide members. Membership is only $10 per year.
YBC members will have the opportunity to attend monthly local birding trips and participate in a variety of bird-related activities including statewide joint field trips.
Please assist us with this new and exciting initiative by helping us connect with middle and high schoolers who have an interest in birds. Email: contact@AlachuaAudubon.org.
